The Downtown Line Stage 2 (DTL2) will be a 16.6 km long, fully underground rail transit system with 12 stations, bored/cut and cover tunnels and a depot. It connects DTL1 station at Bugis and runs along the Bukit Timah Road corridor and terminates at a depot. The 12 stations are located at: Rochor, Little India, Newton, Stevens, Botanic Gardens, Duchess, Sixth Avenue, Blackmore, Beauty World, Hillview, Cashew and Petir (Bukit Panjang). The deport is located at the north end of DTL2 off Woodlands Road at Jalan Gali Batu.

Contract 912 (C912) comprises the design, construction and completion of the station at Bukit Panjang (BKP) with civil defence shelter and its connecting tunnels between contract boundary C911 and C913.

This contract 920 is for the design, construction and completion of the station at Newton (NEW), four connecting bored tunnels between the stations at Little India, Newton and Stevens, a 66kV Substation at Halifax Road which includes a cable tunnel connecting the 66kV Substation building to the bored tunnels between the stations at Little India and Newton.

Downtown Line 2 station at Newton under this project will connect and allow interchange with the existing North-South Line Newton Station (NSL NEW) to form the Newton Interchange Station. The works includes the Additions and Alteration Works to the NSL NEW.
